The United Nations High Commissioner for Women has said it is “deeply saddened” by the new Taliban-led interim government in Afghanistan.
Alison Davidian, UN envoy for women in Afghanistan, said: And there is no women’s ministry. “
The Taliban are known to be violating the rights of women to their rule.
Eight women in civil society, women’s rights activists and other leaders said they feared that women would be barred from working, and that no going out without male will follow.
The woman is urging the international community to provide financial assistance to civil society women’s organizations in order to protect their rights.
