Rwandan President Paul Kagame has expressed interest in step-by-step talks on re-establishing good relations between Rwanda and Burundi six years later. The head of state of Rwanda said this based on the fact that the ministers of all the countries had met in the same way as the security forces in the two countries.
In an interview with Rwandan national radio and television on Saturday, President Paul Kagame said:
ˮWe want to improve relations with Burundi and Burundi wants it. It is with this in mind that our ministers and those in charge of defense and security agencies see and will continue to do so. I think things are moving forward and will continue to move forward, both in the interests of Burundi and in the interests of Rwanda. I think we are on the right track to understanding and you will continue on that path to having that relationship between the two of you become stronger ‟
The President of Rwanda also assures that the good relations between the two countries bordering on each other will enable them to develop each other.
