Egypt said on Wednesday it plans to vaccinate a billion Covid-19 vaccines from China’s Sinovac plant. Egypt says it will be the first country in the Middle East to produce more vaccines.
The Cairo pharmaceutical factory in the Egyptian capital has signed a contract with the Chinese pharmaceutical company, a contract to manufacture the vaccines in Egypt. It was submitted by the Egyptian Minister of Public Health, Hala Zayed, in a press conference. He says the vaccines will help the African continent, which is in dire need of vaccines, compared to other parts of the world.
Egypt has a population of over 100 million, having already infected more than 288,000 people with Covid-19, including 16,700 people who died of the virus.
