Canada is set to supply three African countries with more than 1.3 million COVID-19 vaccines developed by AstraZeneca (AZN.L).
It is part of the overall plan for vaccine sharing, COVAX. This was announced today by GAVI, the General Assembly on Vaccines and Vaccinations.
Nigeria, Kenya and Niger are the first to receive COVID-19 vaccines on Thursday, according to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).
The COVAX project, supported by the United Nations Department of Health, WHO and the GAVI, aims to get two billion doses of vaccines to poor countries by the end of 2021.
